the question: A circle witht the radius x-2 produces an area of 169pi cm power 2. Find x.
I drew a circle deplicting radius x-2. I solved for x with
A= 169pi cm power 2
x= sq root 169 + 2
x = 13 + 2
x = 15
Did I do this correctly?

r = x-2 cm
--------------
Area = (pi)(x-2)^2
169pi = pi(x-2)^2
(x-2)^2 = 169
-----------
x-2 = 13 or x-2 = -13
Positive solution:
radius = 13 cm
