Question 13535: this was given to me on a H.w question, I dont even know how to start,ill be glad to get help, thank you..
"In the kitchen, Susan's stove is 36 inches wide by 30 inches deep. She has 4 burners, each with a diameter of 10 inches. Find the area of the stovetop around the burners"
Answer by elima(1433) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We know the area of the whole stove top is;
area=lw
area=36(30)=1080
The area of each burner is;
area of circle =
We know the diameter of the circle(burners) is 10, so that would make the radius 5.
So area=
area= 78.5
Since we know the whole area is 1080 and each burner is 78.5, we will need to take out the area of each burner from the total area.
78.5(4)=314
1080-314=766
answer= area of stove around burners = 766
Hope this helps
