Question 135162: A team in science class placed a chalk mark on the side of the wheel and rolled the wheel in a straight line until the chalk mark returned to the same position. The team then measured the distance the wheel had rolled and found it to be 56 cm. To the nearest tenth, what is the radius of the wheel?
I don't get how I'm supposed to solve this..?

the wheel rolls on the circumference __ the distance between the marks is one revolution (one circumference)

2*pi*r=56 __ r=56/(2*pi)

As long as the wheel rolls smoothly and doesn't slip or leave the pavement,
then the distance from the chalk mark to where the chalk mark arrives
again will be the circumference of the wheel.
