Question 1057871: If the circumference is 3 miles how many acres are within the circle ?
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
area(A) of circle is pi * r^2, where r is the radius of the circle
:
in our problem pi * d = 3, where d is the diameter
:
d = 3 / pi = 0.9549
:
r = 0.9549 / 2 = 0.4775
:
A = pi * (0.4775)^2 = 0.7163 square miles
:
1 Acre = 0.0015625 Square Miles
:
**********************************************
Number of acres = 0.7163 / 0.0015625 = 458.432
