Question 1036265: In Bio 111 class you learned that human hair can vary in diameter, but one es timate of the average diameter is 50 microns. How many 10 nanometer particles could be stacked across the diameter of a human hair?

Hi there,
1 micron = 1 x 10^-6
1 nanometre = 1 x 10^-9
So, 50 x 10^-6/10 x 10^-9
= 5,000.
This the number of 10 nanometer
particles that could be stacked
across the diameter(50 x 10^-6)
of a human hair.
Hope this helps :-)
