Question 984617: A pipe has a cross-sectional area of 50 cm2. Water is flowing through the pipe at a
speed of 25 cm / sec. The pipe is used to fill up a cuboidal tank, whose inner
dimensions are 1m×0.8m×0.2m. How many minutes will it take for the tank to be
completely full

The water flow-rate through the pipe is the product of the pipe's cross-sectional area and the velocity of the water flow:

flow-rate = product of the pipe's cross-section area and the velocity of the water flow = 50 * 25 = 1250 .

Tank volume = 1 m * 0.8 m * 0.2 m = 100 cm* 80 cm * 20 cm = 160000 .

The time required to fill the tank = = = 128 sec.
