Question 87765: I was so thankful for this website before - I appreciate it's available. I'm stumped on the following: An artist has 14 cubes, each with an edge of 1 meter. She forms a sculpture that is three cubes high, with nine cubes on the bottom layer, four on the middle layer, and one on the top layer. She paints all of the exposed surfaces. How many meters squared does she paint?
I plan on giving a donation. Thanks for your help. Pam.

--------------
Draw the picture.
front faces = 14
back faces = 14
side faces = 6
top faces = 9
-------------------
Total faces = 33
