Question 203397: Please help me! The farmer has a cylinder shaped silo with one flat rectangular face that rests on the side of the barn. The height of the silo is 30 ft and is 10 ft wide. The barn is approimately 5 ft from the center of the silo. What is the capacity of the silo in cubic ft of grain? Is there a way to do this with using formulas? Or is the formula necessary? This is for a graduate class. I am absolutely stuck! Thank you for your help. Janet

I can't get a good feel for how large the flat part might be since the radius of the cylinder is 5 ft and they say the barn is 5 ft from center.
The formula for the volume of the cylinder is v=3.14(r)^2(h)
v=3.14*25*30
v=2355 cuft
I am not sure this is the total answer because of the rectangular side mentioned in the question.
