Question 30303: This is a weighted average problem. Hope I chose the right section....
boat number one leaves the pier at 9am at 8 knots. 1/2 hour later boat number two leaves the same pier in the same direction at 10 knots. What time will boat two overtake boat number one? I have examples in my book but they are going in different directions and it doesn't work with the same type of formula for me. Thank you!!!!

Question 30304: Please, I have had a real problem figuring out this one. it is a weighted average. At 7am Brooke leaves home to go on a business trip driving 35mph. 15 minutes later Bart discovers that she forgot her materials. He drives 50mph to catch up with her. Bart is delayed 30 minutes with a flat tire. When will he catch up with Brooke? I really don't understand how the 1/2 hour figures in or how to calculate the speed to catch up......HELP!

A field trip cost $960 in total. 10 students are not able to attend so it will now cost the remaining students, who are going, an extra $16 each. How many students are going on the trip? Question 39220: Hope I'm in the right section!!!! This seems like a variation of an average problem. It is a very basic problem but for the life of me I can't find the equation to solve this problem ( even when I have the correct answer at hand )
Sam makes 20 drinks in 5 minutes , Sue makes 20 drinks in 10 minutes, and Jack makes 20 drinks in 15 minutes. If they work together how long will it take them to make 20 drinks????? ( answer listed as 2 min. 44 sec. ) what formula is used to solve this??
