Question 922826: Reduce the rational expression to lowest terms. If it is already in lowest terms, enter the expression in the answer box.
a^2−a−2/a^2+6a+5

Answer by rm29924(97)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have to factor the numerator and denominator
a^2-a-2/a^2+6a+5
The numerator factors to this: ( a+1) (a-2)
The denominator factors to this: (a+1) (a+5)
You can cross out the (a+1) in the numerator and the denominator because you are dividing.
Therefore the answer is:
a-2/a+5
