A sum of $2000 is invested, part of it at 5% interest and the remainder at 9%. If the interest earned by the 9% investment is$110 more than the interest earned by the 5% investment, find the amount invested at each rate.
A sum of $2000 is invested, part I at 5% interest
and the remainder (2000-x) at 9%.
interest from 9% = 9%(2000-x)
Interest from 5% = 5%x

9%(2000-x) - 5%x=$110
multiply by 100
9(2000-x)-5x=11000
18000-9x-5x=11000
-14x= 11000-18000
-14x=-7000
/-14
x=-7000/-14
x= 500..................5%
1500 @ 9%
