Question 905662: Suppose a professor counts the final exam as being equal to each of the other tests in her course, and she will also change the lowest test score to match the final exam score if the final exam score is higher. If a student's four test scores are 83, 67, 52, and 90, what is the lowest score the student can earn on the final exam and still obtain at least an 80 average for the course ?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Five exams at 80 points = 400 points out of 500 in order to get a B.
The current scores are 52, 67, 83, 90
We can toss the 52 because it's going to be changed.
67 + 83 + 90 = 240
400 - 240 = 160 points needed for the final and changed test
160 / 2 = 80
That's the lowest score that the student can earn for a B.
