If the numbers are 87,75,82,and 93 what number would i need to add to raise the median to 87?


87, 75, 82, 93 -------> 75, 82, 87, 93

For median to be 87, the 2 medians, 82 and 87 (sum of 169) would need to sum to 2(87), or 174. 

Thus, a total of 5 (174 – 169) needs to be added to either, or both medians.
