Question 873173: What the substitution method for 4x-3y=-1 and 3x-y=-2
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 x - y = 2 .............1
-1 y = 2 -3 x
/ -1 =
y = -2 + 3 x
4 x + -3 y = -1 .....................2
Substitute y in (2)
4 x + -3 ( -2 + 3 x ) = -1
4 x + 6 + -9 x = -1
4 x -9 x = -7
-5 x = -7
/ -5
x= 7/ 5
Plug the value of x in (1)
3 x - y = 2
3 * 7/ 5 - y = 2
21/ 5 - y = 2
-1 y = -11/ 5
/ -1
y= 11/ 5
