Question 86315: A bicyclist rode into the country for 5 h. In returning , her speed was 5 mi/h faster and the trip tool 4 h.What washer speed each way?
Answer by scianci(186)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
distance = (rate)(time)
her distance is the same coming and going
(rate)(time) for the trip out = (rate)(time) for the trip back
5x = 4(x + 5)
5x = 4x + 20
5x - 4x = 20
x = 20 MPH on the trip out
x + 5 = 20 + 5 = 25 MPH on the trip back
