Question 839554: How do I set up this inequality?
I look on the book and on line I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Jon scored an 82 on his first test and a 70 on his second test. What range of scores does he need oh his third test to have an average of at least 80?
(82+70+x)/3≥ 80
152+x ≥ 80
-152 -152
x ≥ -72 (this is the wrong answer)

Hello. It appears as if you forgot to include the "/3" with the 152 + x≥80. It should read as
Next, multiply 3 to both sides of the inequality, giving us:
152 + x ≥ 240
Subtract 152 from both sides, which will give us the range of scores:
x ≥ 88
