Suppose that the mean score of a class of 35 students was 76.
The 20 male students in the class had a mean score of 60.
What was the mean score for the 15 female students?
:
Let m = mean score of the girls
= 76
do the math and multiply both sides by 35
1200 + 15m = 2660
15m = 2660 - 1200
m = 1460/15
m = 97 is the average of the girls
