let the number be x
sum of 522 and 3 times the number = 3x+522
square of a number = x^2
x^2-(3x+522)=126
x^2-3x-522=126
x^2-3x-648=0
x^2-27x+24x-648=0
x(x-27)+24(x-27)=0
(x-27)(x+24)=0
x=27 OR -24
But number is positive
the number is 27
