i tried x+30=y-40

3x-50=130
3x=180
x=180/3
x=60

i tried x+30=y-40

Let amount of points that 3rd player has be T

Then amount of points that the 1st player has = T - 40

The amount of points that the 2nd player has = T - 40 - 30, or T - 70

Therefore, T + T - 40 + T - 70 = 130

3T - 110 = 130

3T = 240

T, or amount of points the 3rd player has = , or

You should now be able to determine the amount of points the 1st and 2nd players have, and then do the check!!
