Question 770135: You went trout fishing. You caught trout with lengths (in inches) of 8 8/5, 10 1/2, 9 1/2, 8 3/4, 10 2/3, and 9 5/6. What is the average length of trout you caught?
Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
8 8/5, 10 1/2, 9 1/2, 8 3/4, 10 2/3, and 9 5/6.
Convert to fractions:
48/5 + 21/2 + 19/2 + 35/4 + 32/3 + 59/6
Add 21/2 + 19/2 = 41/2
48/5 + 41/2 + 35/4 + 32/3 + 59/6
Common denominator = 60
= (576 + 1230 + 525 + 640 + 590)/60
= 3561/60
= 59.35 inches
Divide 59.35 by 6
= 9 9/10 inches (average).
Hope this helps.
