Because there are 3 measures of 'average' (mean, median and mode) which are all calculated differently.....
I will assume that you are referring to the MEAN (average) score.
The mean of a set of numbers is found by adding the numbers together and then dividing the result by the number of values in the set.
Sounds complicated but it isn't.
So for your problem we have to add the numbers
124+108+86+82 which gives a total of 400
now we divide this by 4 (because we added 4 numbers together)
=100
therefore the average of 124, 108,86 and 82 is 100
