Florence scored 74 and 81 on two history tests. What must she score on her third test to have a B average?
It depends on what a B average is in her class.
If a B average is 80-89 then, letting x be the score on a third test:

Since it's not likely that she will have more than 12 extra credit points on the third test, she won't be able to get an A. Therefore, as long as she gets an 85 or mor on the test, she will have a B average.
