Question 72159:  Equation 1:   -A + 4B + C = 0      Equation 2: 3A - 2B + C = 0
How do I answer the equations in terms of C?
Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
 -A+4B+C=0 ADD A & SUBTRACT 4B FROM BOTH SIDES.
-A+A+4B-4B+C=A-4B NOW COMBINE LIKE TERMS. THUS:
C=A-4B
----------------------------------------------------------
3A-2B+C=0 SUBTRACT 3A & ADD 2B TO BOTH SIDES.
C=-3A+2B
-------------------------------------------------------------
I'm assuming the problem is to find the line equation through these 2 po=
ints??????
If that is so I don't know what they are doing with the ax+bx+c=3D0 for=
mula.
A line through these points (-1,4)(3,-2) has a slope
(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)=3D (-2-4)/(3+1)=3D-6/4=3D-1.5 this is the slope.
Now substitute either set of (x,y) points in the line formula & solve fo=
r the y intercept (b).
4=3D-1*-1.5+b
4=3D1.5+b
b=3D4-1.5
b=3D2.5
now we have the line equation of
y=3D-1.5x+2.5
Now I am lost as to what is asked for when they say a=3D-3/5c & b=3D-2/5=
.
Sorry if this is not what you are looking for.
