Question 712391: Arun's average in the first 32 innings was 11 runs per inning. After a further 8 innings his average had decreased to 10 runs per inning .what is the average for the last 8 innings?
Answer by Simnepi(216) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To achieve a mean score of 11 then Arun's total score over the first 32 innings must be 11*32 = 352 runs
Similarly Arun's total score over 40 innings must be 40*10 = 400 runs
the difference between these two total scores gives the number of runs he scored in his last 8 innings
400 - 352 = 48 runs
now to find the mean we divide the runs by the number of innings
= 6
so Arun scored an average (mean) of 6 runs in his last 8 innings
