Question 707865: I am trying to help my daughter with this problem and can not seem to come up with the answer. Her teacher gave her the answer of X is greater than and equal to 96.
The problem is as follows:
Reuben has scores of 89, 75, 93, 97 on four English quizzes. what score must he get on the next quiz to achieve an average of at least 90. We keep coming up with 88.5%.

Solution:
90-89= 1
90-75= 15
90-93= -3
90-97= -7
Total:
1+15-3-7= 6
Therefore:
90+6=96
Answer= 96

To check:
(89+75+93+97+96)/5=90
