Question 657535: How do you isolate x in the problem 4(x-2)-5x=10
Answer by colliefan(242)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(x-2)-5x=10
4x-8-5x=10
4x-5x-8=10
-1x-8=10
-1x-8+8=10+8
-1x+0=18
-1x=18
-1x/-1=18/-1
-1/-1*x=-18
1*x=-18
x=-18
Substitute -18 into the original equation to check to see if it is the correct solution.
