2x^2-2x-12=0 solve using method of completing a square
----
Divide thru by 2 to get:
x^2 - x - 6 = 0
---
Rearrange:
x^2-x+(1/2)^2 = 6 + (1/2)^2
---
Factor:
(x-(1/2))^2 = 25/4
---
x-(1/2) = 5/4 or x-(1/2) = -5/4
---
x = (2/4)+(5/4) or x = (2/4)-(5/4)
----
x = 7/4 or x = -3/4
