the average of 3 numbers is 63. What is the value of a fourth number x if the average of the four numbers is 60?
====================
Let S = the sum of the 3 numbers
Then the average of the 3 numbers = 63 = S/3 -> S = 189
When the fourth number, x, is added the average = (S+x)/4 = 60
189+x = 240
x = 51
