Depends. How much do you have to get to pass?

Let represent the mark required to pass. Let represent the grade on the final exam.

A little algebra music, Maestro:

Plug in the appropriate value for and do the arithmetic. Hope that , or whatever the maximum possible score on the final turns out to be. For example, if a passing grade is a 75%, put a fork in yourself -- you are done.

:
x = grade to make a 70 for class
:
= 70
413 + 3x = 700
3x = 700 - 413
3x = 287
x = 287/3
x ~ 96% will give you a passing mark
