2x+6 ( 6 plus twice the number)
x-7 = (7 less than the number)
2x+6=x-7
2x-x=-7-6
x=-13

Read carefully and set up an equation.
sum of 6 and twice a number= 6+2x
7 less than a number = x-7
Since these two are said to be equal,
set them equal to each other and solve for x

6+2x=x-7 (subtract x from each side)
6+x=-7 (subtract 6 from each side)
x=-13

replace x in the original equation and solve.\
