Question 500665: What is the mean of all integers from -410 through positive 400?
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you have a set of consecutive integers, the mean and the median are the same. Since you have 811 integers in your set, (410 negative integers plus 400 positive integers plus zero), the 406th one from either end when they are in numerical order is both the median and the mean.
Counting from the high end, you use up 400 of the 406 getting down to 1, then 0, -1, -2, -3, -4, and -5 are the next 6 numbers. -5 is your mean/median.
