Question 386364: Solve the system by elimination: 2y - 6x = -8, y = -5x + 12
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2y - 6x = -8...............1
y = -5x + 12
add 5x to both sides
y+5x=12...............2
...
multiply (2) by -2
-2y-10x=-24
add it to (1)
-2y+2y-10x-6x=-24-8
-16x=-32
/-16

plug value of x in (2)
y+5*2=12
y+10=12
-10 -10
y=12-10
