Question 372250: On a map of a city park, the ordered pairs (3,5) and (8,17) mark the starting and ending points of a straight jogging trail. Each unit on the map represents 0.1 mile. What is the length of the trail in miles? How many back-and-forth trips would Marisol need to make one the trail in order to run at least 7 miles?
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use the distance formula:
where
and
are the coordinates of the given points.
Multiply your answer by 0.1 to get the length of the trail in miles. Multiply that result by 2 to get the round trip distance. Divide that result into 7. Round up. And it is the same answer even if her name is something other than Marisol.
