The arithmetic mean of 10 test scores is 90. The top and bottom scores (55,98)are eliminated. What is the mean of the remaining set of scores?

mean = (total points)/(# of scores)
---
90 = total points)/10
---
total points = 900
--------------------
Subtract the two given scores:
900 - 98-55 = 747
------
Divide by 8 to get mean of remaining set:
747/8 = 93.375
