The average of five numbers is 9. The average of 7 other numbers is 8. What is the average of all 12 numbers?

5 x avg of 9 = 45 total
7 x avg of 8 = 56 total
------------
avg of all 12 = (45 + 56)/12 = 101/12
= 8.416666...
