Question 30307: This problem is a weighted average from my book. I managed to work quite a few and this one has me stumped. Please help. Pablo is driving 40mph. After he has driven 30 miles, his brother Rick starts driving in the same direction. At what rate must Rick drive to catch up with Pablo in five hours?
Thank You So Much.
Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The highest amount of time required is 5 hours.
Pablo travels at 40mph
40(30)=30(x-5)
1200=30x-150
1350=30x
x=45
Hence, Rick must travel at 45mph to catch up.
Paul.
