40 miles in 5 hours. then 60 miles in 10 hours. then 40 miles in 20 hours.what was his averge speed for all three legs of the trip?
-------------------------
The total distance is 40 + 60 + 40 = 140 miles
The total time is 5 + 10 + 20 = 35 hours
140 miles/35 hours = 4 miles/hour, or 4 mph
