Seven men agree with eighth man to subscribe a sum of money to a fund. The first seven are to subscribe Rs.50 each and the eighth man Rs. 70 more than the average of all the eight. Find how much did the eighth man subscribe?
:
Let x = amt the 8th man subscribed
:
total amt of the 1st seven = 7 * 50 = 350; average of all 8 = (x-70)
:
= x - 70
:
350 + x = 8(x - 70)
:
350 + x = 8x - 560
;
350 + 560 = 8x - x
:

x =
x = $130 amt subscribed by the 8th guy
