the area is the product of (3x-2) and (5x+1)=15x^2-7x-2
subtract from that 4x^2, so the remaining area is 11x^2-7x-2
Check with x=3 inches
the cardboard is 7 by 16 or 112 in ^2 area
the square is 6 by 6 or 36 in^2 leaving 76 in^2
using the above, f(3)=99-21-2=76 in^2
