Question 1147387: Suppose certain coins have weights that are normally distributed with a means of 5.366 G and a standard deviation of 0.056 G a vending machine is configured to except those coins with weights between 5.306G and 5.426 GF if 300 different coins are inserted into the vending machine what is the expected number of rejected coins
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
accept if z < (5.426-5.366)/0.056 or z < 0.06/0.056 or z<1.07
or if z> (5.306-5.366)/0.056 or z>0.06/0.056 or z>-1.07
That is probability of acceptance is 0.7154
the probability of rejection is 0.2846
For 300 coins, 300*0.2846=85.38 or 85 coins
