            I will solve the problem combining grouping and re-grouping.

Daniel + Maria = Daniel + Maria + David + Liz - (David + Liz) = (Daniel + David) + (Liz + Maria) - (David + Liz) = 120 + 153 - 127 = 146. ANSWER. Daniel and Maria have together 146 coins.
