p=h-3
10 years ago Peter was (p-10) and Hugo was (h-10)
Hugo was 4 times peters age
h-10=4(p-10)
Substitute p into the equation
h-10=4((h-3)-10)
h-10=4(h-13)
h-10=4h-52
h+42=-4h
42=3h
14=h this means Hugo is 14 years old now
Substitute 14 back into the equation for h
p=14-3
p=11
Answer: Peter is 11 years old and Hugo is 14 years old
