Question 1095319: As part of their senior project, Jane and Annie collected a total of $306. Jane collected $88 less than Annie. How much did each collect?
What is the correct formula?
Thank you!

This is what I have so far...
J = Jane and A = Annie
A - 88 = J

Answer by ikleyn(52848)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
A + J = 306,
A - J =  88.
----------------Add equations (1) and (2). You will get

2A = 306 + 88 = 394  ====>  A =  = 197.

Thus Annie collected $197.

Can you complete the solution from this point ?
