Question 1080768: Dina and Lina each received an hourglass. The two hourglasses are not the same size. Lina has to turn her hourglass over 4 times in 5 hours and Dina has to turn her hour glass over 6 times in 3 hours. What is the difference between the time intervals measured by the 2 hourglasses?
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the first hour glass is turned over 4 times in 5 hours.
5/4 = 1.25 hours per turn over.
the second hour glass is turned over 6 times in 3 hours.
3/6 = .5 hours per turn over.
the first hour glass measures 1.25 hours.
the second hour glass measures .5 hours.
turn the first hour glass over 4 times and it takes 5 hours.
turn the second hour glass over 6 times and it takes 3 hours.
the difference in time intervals measured by the 2 hour glasses is 1.25 minus .5 = .75 hours.
that's the answer to what i think you are asking.
