Question 1076935: The highest mark in the Science test was 92. Three students scored 41 which was eight marks higher than the lowest score. What was the range of scores?

The "range" of a set of numbers is just the difference between the biggest number and the smallest number. (The maximum "far-apart-ness" of the scores)
The biggest score is 92, and we know that "41" is 8 bigger than the smallest number.
41 - 8 = 33, so the smallest score is 33.
Therefore, the range is 92 - 33 = 59.
