We have 8 slots to fill: slot A through slot H

Slot A has 8 choices
Slot B has 7 choices
Slot C has 6 choices
Slot D has 5 choices
Slot E has 4 choices
Slot F has 3 choices
Slot G has 2 choices
Slot H has 1 choice

Multiply out all the values shown above: 8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1 = 40320

Side Note: this can be found using the permutation formula (with n = 8 and r = 8)

So the answer is 40320
