Question 1030210: A, B, C, D and E in the decimal representation 0.ABC and 0.DE represent the digits 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, in some order. What is the least possible absolute difference between the numbers 0.ABC and 0.DE? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest thousandth.

There are all in all 120 possible pairs for 0.ABC and 0.DE, although this number can be trimmed down by some considerations. This is best solved by programming using some kind of algorithm, I think, because of the considerable computation involved (unless you're industrious enough to do 120 differences!). The one I got are the decimals 0.352 and 0.41, which gives , and I know this is not the least yet.
