Question 361686: p.31 #10
Find the complement of angle B if angle B measures (6x-5) degrees.
Just a reminder about the distributive property:
a - ( b - c) = a - b + c
note that when you distribute the - through the parenthesis, - (-c) = +c
Choose one answer.
a. (85 - 6x) degrees
b. (95 - 6x) degrees
c. (175 - 6x) degrees
d. (185 - 6x) degrees

Question 363241: The 12-foot bed of a dump truck loaded with heavy stone must rise to an angle of 36° before the stone will spill out. Approximately how high must the front of the bed rise (x) to unload?
sin 36° ≈ 0.588, cos 36° ≈ 0.810, tan 36° ≈ 0.727
I have no clue how to work with Sine and Cosine.
How do I work this out?

Question 363153: Hi Guys,
Stuck with this question any help would be appreicated.
i) An object is positioned at the origin of the xy axis, Two forces act upon it, the first has magnitude of 9N and acts in the direction of the y-axis, The second has magnitude 4N and acts in the direction of the negative x axis, Calculate the magnitude and direction of the resultant force R.
(ii) An object moves in the xy plane with a velocity of 15ms^-1 in a direction 36.87degrees above the positive x axis. Resolve this vlocityinto two components, one labelled X along the x-axis and the other labelled Y along the y-axis
Would appreciate any help
Many Thanks

Question 363469: Morning Everyone,
Struggling on this particular question, on vectors and scalars, was just wondering if anybody could help.
a) Draw an xy plane and show the vectors a=2i+3j and b=5i+j (need not be to scale). By constructing the appropriate parrallelogram, draw the resultant vector in terms of i and j.
b) A particle P is acted upon by forces (measured in Newtons) F1= 3i-2j+5k F2= -i+7j-3k, F3= 5i-j+4k and F4 = -2j+3k. Show the magnitude of the resultant force F acting on P is sqrt134 Newtons.
Many thanks in advance for any help
