Question 44539This question is from textbook Elemetary Geometry for college students
: The problem consist of a diagram: A is parallel to B and C is parallel to D (A and B are horizontal line; C and D are vertical lines both with slight slant). The angles are numbered as follows (starting from top):On line A is
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
On Line B:
9 10 11 12
13 14 15 16
Given: m<9= 2x+17; m<11= 5x-94
Find: x
What I have tried is taking m<9 =m<11 so 2x+17=5x-94 then I took the 2x+17 and moved it to the other side: 5x-94+2x+17=0 simply 7x-77=0. I think this maybe where I'm making a mistake. Can you Help me solve this equation to find x?This question is from textbook Elemetary Geometry for college students

Question 51006: Solve for X. The measure of angle AOB = 4x-2. The measure of angle BOC = 5x+10. The measure of angle COD = 2x+14.
I thought that if I added the 3 angles together (11X+22) that the solution would equal angle AOD. However, I can't seem to solve for x when I do that. What am I doing wrong? thanks.
