Question 998471: Find the measure of the angle such that the sum of its complement and supplement is 6 degrees more than nine times the angle
Answer by clearblueskai(22) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
first, set up equations.
let x be the angle, y be the complement and z be the supplement
eq. 1: x+y= 90
eq. 2: x+z= 180
eq. 3: y+z = 9x+6
Change eq. 1 and eq. 2 in terms of y and z
eq. 1: y = 90-x
eq. 2: z = 180-x
substitute these two equations in eq.3
(90-x) + (180-x) = 9x+6
Solve for x
90 - x + 180 - x = 9x + 6
90 + 180 - 6 = 9x + x + x
264 = 11x
264/11 = x
24 = x
